John Reed was born November 2, 2001 in Virginia Beach, VA. He emerged from collegiate swimming at the University of Utah to become one of USA’s top young triathlon talents earning the USA Triathlon U.S. Rookie of the Year award and U23 Americas continental title in 2023. In 2024, his breakout performance came at the Karlovy Vary World Triathlon Cup, where he seized his first World Cup victory.

Reed carries that momentum into 2025, already claiming 3rd place at the 2025 World Cup event in Saidia, Morocco, before delivering strong Elite Men’s WTCS performances (21st at Yokohama, 13th at Alghero).

Reed has compiled 51 elite starts, with four World Cup wins, nine total podiums, firmly establishing him inside the global top 20 and positioning him as one of America’s brightest triathlon prospects.
