Podium Racing Wins Jersey
Podium Racing Dominates in Jersey, Extends Supertri Lead
Fresh off a victory in Chicago, Podium Racing arrived in Jersey with an 8-point series lead and a clear mission: to dominate. They didn't just succeed; they put on a masterclass in team triathlon racing, leaving the island with a decisive victory and a massive 28-point lead in the overall series standings. ๐
A One-Two Punch from the Women
The story of the day was the absolute dominance of the Podium Racing women. Jeanne Lehair was in a class of her own, breaking away to take her second first-place finish of the season. But the real drama unfolded behind her. In a brilliant display of team strategy, her teammate Leonie Periault was locked in a fierce battle for second. Thanks to some tactical decisions, Leonie secured the runner-up spot, giving the team a powerful 1-2 finish and a clear victory for the women's squad.
Men's Team Delivers Crucial Points
While the women stole the headlines, the men's team showed incredible consistency and depth, which was vital for the overall team win. All of the Podium Racing men placed within the top 10, a testament to their strength across the board.
Newcomer Mitch Kolkman made a spectacular debut, proving he belongs with the best. He was in the hunt for a medal the entire race alongside Tayler Reid, narrowly missing out and finishing in a very impressive 4th place. It was a bittersweet day for Tayler Reid, who was on pace for his best race of the season before an unfortunate crash derailed his podium chances. Kenji Nener displayed grit, tenacity and dedication as he started and finished the race having fractured his wrist during course familiarization. Despite the bad luck, the team's collective performance was more than enough to secure the points needed for the overall victory.
The Art of the Team Tactic
Podium Racing continues to show what it means to race as a single unit. Their success isn't just about individual talent; it's about sharp, decisive, team-based racing tactics that help them accumulate critical points.
A perfect example was on full display in the women's race. Jeanne Lehair had earned a valuable "short chute" advantage for her efforts. In a strategic move, team owner and director John Anthony made the call to give that advantage to Leonie Periault. This critical decision gave Leonie the edge she needed to pull away from Crown Racing's Georgia Taylor-Brown and lock in that crucial second-place finish. It was a calculated play that maximized team points and perfectly illustrates why Podium Racing is leading the series.
On to the Final: A Showdown in Toulouse
With an impressive lead, Podium Racing now has its sights set on the grand final in Toulouse, France, on October 5th. The goal is clear: win the overall series and take the crown (pun intended) from Crown Racing, who have been the league champions for the past two years. After their commanding performance in Jersey, they've proven they have the talent, tactics, and teamwork to do it. All eyes will be on France for what promises to be an epic conclusion to the season! ๐ซ๐ท
Beyond winning
As part of Podium Racingโs mission to inspire people around the world to embrace health and wellness as a lifelong journey, Podium spent time with youth in Jersey signing autographs and giving away The Feed swag. Unfortunately, the rain forced a cancellation of their planned Q & A with young athletes and parents that was to focus on how elite athletes create a balance between training, education and recovery or in kid language, fun!
